Kit Simon (Guitar, Vocals) Lead singer and guitarist for the band is Kit Simon. He is a multi-instrumentalist and proud owner of the Olde Town Pickn Parlor. An avid worshiper of the history of jazz and swing that has its sole roots in American culture, he gravitates to the mix of newer influences that shapes todays roots music. His diverse musical background has taken him as far as the South Pacific for an 8 week tour for the Armed Forces. His record collection runs the gamut of jazz icons from Louis Arrmstrong to Django Reinhardt. Swing is in his blood.
Micah Parkin (vocals)- Micah Parkin moved to Boulder, CO, from New Orleans, LA in 2007. Born into a musical family in Memphis and growing up an hour from New Orleans in south Mississippi, her early influences included blues, jazz, rock-n-roll, gospel, country and bluegrass. A decade spent living in New Orleans deepened her interest in and love of jazz, swing, Cajun, zydeco and big brass band music. Micah sang and played guitar in several bands in Memphis and Mississippi including The Sincere Ramblers, which aired a weekly live radio broadcast from Oxford, MS, and Sugarfoot, which featured the vocal combinations of three families, including Micah and her father Wayne Walker. Sugarfoot’s participation in Rockygrass in 1996 led her to an initial visit of Colorado, which inspired her later move to the beautiful Rocky Mountain state. In Colorado, Micah performed with David Williams and the Gypsy Jazz Tricksters and Mozingo Paradiso, which featured vocal harmonies with her sister Moriah Mozingo.She currently performs regularly with the band Voodoo Lily, which plays an eclectic blend of blues, jazz, gypsy jazz, and swing, and is featured with the Olde Town Swing Band.
Bill Pontarelli- (Clarinet) Bill Pontarelli started playing the clarinet when he was 16 years old and was influenced by Pete Fountain and Benny Goodman. He started by playing in a Dixieland band around Denver and after completing professional school, joined the Platte River jazz band. The band played Denver and jazz festivals throughout the United States and Canada. After they broke up, Bill joined Alan Fredrickson's jazz band and played a couple of times in the swing in Jazz series at DC PA. He then joined a musical experiment called Flexigrass with Pete Wernick which blends jazz and bluegrass music. Flexigrass played in Denver and numerous music festivals throughout the US and Europe. Through this association, Bill played with Bluegrass great Earl Scruggs and recorded with Doc Watson. Today, Bill plays with numerous jazz groups and freelance around the Denver area and still plays on occasion with Flexigrass.
Duane Webster- (bass) Duane Webster plays bass. Specifically acoustic, standup, doghouse, contrabass, upright, double bass. He has provided the low frequencies, chordal foundation and rythmic drive and swing for nearly a hundred of the finest acoustic bands and ensembles along the Front Range of Colorado for nearly a half century.
Rex Spease (Tenor, Alto Bari Saxophones, Clarinet, Flute) Rex studied music at The United States Navy School of Music and at the University of Kansas. He has been playing professionally in the Denver area since 1980. He enjoys playing a variety of styles, including classical, jazz, country, swing, ethnic music and others. He has been a member of the Denver Musicians' Union for over 30 years and has played with various groups during that time. He, and the numerous musical associates with whom he has been affiliated, have performed for weddings, anniversaries and countless other occasions. Rex is excited and proud to be a member of various ensembles at this time, including "Olde Town Swing Band", "Crystal Swing Band", Cliff Spratt Music", "Karen & The Eklektiks" to name a few, playing a variety of original and cover music for exciting and entertaining productions.
